Announcements of Samsung’s Unpacked Event

Samsung’s 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event took place almost a month later than in previous years, on February 25, 2026. The most exciting Samsung Galaxy S26 news unveiled at the event includes:

Three industry-leading AI smartphones

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series consists of three high-quality smartphones: the entry-level Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Plus. During the Unpacked event, much of the attention was on the Ultra and its eagerly anticipated new Privacy Display. All three smartphones come with industry-leading cameras and smarter AI, and are available in vibrant colours, including Sky Blue and Cobalt Violet. Samsung Galaxy’s entry-level S26 features a large, bright 6.3-inch display, while the S26 Plus comes with a 4,900 mAh battery and a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen.

S26 Ultra Privacy Display

Samsung isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s security. You can turn the Ultra’s new Privacy Display feature on and off to hide the information on your screen. People sneaking looks from the side will only see a dark screen thanks to Samsung’s innovative new Black Matrix technology.

All-new Samsung browser

Samsung is integrating the AI browser Perplexity into its Galaxy S26 range. This means the browser will be able to access your Samsung Notes, clock, gallery, calendar and whole browser history to bring you the answers you’re looking for.

Now Nudge

Now Nudge is an AI-powered tool that functions as a personal assistant that still gives you space when you need it. It works away in the background, bringing up photos when a friend asks for them or checking a new invitation against the existing commitments in your calendar.

Excellent camera capabilities

One of the rumours about the Galaxy S26 range that has now been confirmed true is the Galaxy S26 Ultra getting wider apertures that make it better for low-light photography. You also have the power to edit photos with AI using voice commands or text prompts.

The Expectations for Samsung Galaxy S26

OzMobiles has been keeping you informed on Samsung Galaxy S26 news since some savvy analysts and leakers gave us some clues on what to expect. Here are some of the major rumours that were swirling in the lead-up to the S26’s release, and whether or not the Unpacked event has confirmed them:

The line-up

The Samsung Galaxy S25 came with five models. Korean outlet NewsPim claimed that Samsung would dial it back to three this year, and Samsung’s Unpacked event proved them correct.

The chipset

Korea Economic Daily predicted the in-house Exynos 2600 chipset would power the Galaxy S26. Samsung has decided to split chips by region, with the Exynos 2600 in most markets but the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powering Ultras worldwide.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S26 was rumoured to retain its predecessor's 50MP main camera but with a new sensor to allow in more light. The Galaxy S26 does have a 50MP main camera, but the extra light comes from the newer, wider camera aperture.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Vs S25

While the Samsung Galaxy S26 offers significant upgrades over the Galaxy S25, it still sticks to the old adage of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. The Samsung Galaxy S26 is very similar to its predecessor in some important ways, such as reliable hardware and the wide, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras. The biggest differences between the two models include:

Privacy display

You can protect your information with Samsung’s new Privacy Display feature at all times, or only when you’re entering sensitive information or for certain apps.

A more comfortable feel

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung’s slimmest smartphone yet, 7.9mm thick and weighing 214 grams. It’s slimmer, lighter and more comfortable to hold than both its predecessor and the other options from Apple and Google.

New AI features

The Samsung Galaxy S26 is a worthwhile investment for AI enthusiasts who want additional tools to work with.

A simpler choice

While the Samsung Galaxy S25 had five models, the Galaxy S26 range brings it back to three and simplifies your purchasing decisions.
