Apple released four new iPhones in late 2022 in the space of a couple of months. All of them were part of the iPhone 14 line-up. The iPhone 14 continues Apple’s tradition of improving the cameras with each model, with an A15 Bionic chip made for fast performance and a handy, stabilising action mode. The other three phones in the line-up are the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. These models have some things in common, like a Super Retina XDR display with HDR support. Yet they also have differences that go beyond size, including storage, battery life and cameras.

If you’ve been looking to upgrade your current phone, an iPhone 14 is an excellent choice. But which one should you get? How much is an iPhone 14, and is an iPhone 14 Pro camera worth it if you decide to get the Pro model?

If saving money is a priority, but you can’t bear to compromise on quality, a refurbished smartphone is the perfect solution. When you buy refurbished, you’re not just taking your chance on a regular used iPhone. A refurbished iPhone has been put through a rigorous testing and checking process, usually by a third-party retailer.

When you buy a refurbished phone, you get a second phone that’s been reset and checked to make sure it’s not lost or stolen. Often you can find something that’s pretty close to new in terms of quality while saving yourself several hundred dollars.

How much is an iPhone 14 when you buy a refurbished one? It depends on who you buy it from and on the condition.

Refurbished Device Grades

Refurbished devices are commonly sold in grades according to their levels of quality. These grades can range from in a condition that’s close to new to a little more weathered and worn-out. Here at OzMobiles, we have a grading system of our own. Here are the four conditions your refurbished mobile phone could be sold in:

New

Phones labelled ‘new’ are in the best possible condition. As the label suggests, they’ve never been used and come with their full Australian manufacturer’s warranties. While some may have been opened for quality checks, they’ve never been activated. How much an iPhone 14 is when it’s new from OzMobiles is still a lot cheaper than when it’s new from a retail store.

Ex-demo

Ex-demo phones have been taken out of their boxes, but they haven’t had previous owners. These are the phones that have been put on display in retail shops for potential customers to inspect and are now on sale at reduced prices. They’re usually in a condition that’s pretty close to new, with very faint (if any) marks.

Excellent

Devices that are in a condition marked ‘excellent’ are fully functioning and have minimal signs of wear and tear. Their screens are in great condition, and they have minor scuffs that aren’t visible at arm’s length.

Very Good

‘Very Good’ is the minimum standard we accept for the devices we sell. These phones are still fully functional, but they may have a few minor dents, plus some scratches that are visible from arm’s length. Luckily none of these physical imperfections will affect how they function. These phones are usually heavily reduced and offer incredible value for money.

So how much is an iPhone 14 when you buy it through OzMobiles? Should you pick the most affordable iPhone 14 you can find, or is the iPhone 14 Pro camera worth it if you decide to go Pro?

Let’s take a look at the various models.

Refurbished iPhone 14 Models

iPhone 14

While it’s not dramatically different to the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 offers excellent value for money. Available in midnight, starlight, rich purple and other colours of the cosmos, its features include fast A15 Bionic-powered performance, great cameras and Action video mode, and a colourful display.

iPhone 14 Plus

At 6.7 inches tall, the iPhone 14 Plus is a bigger phone with a longer battery life lasting two whole days. Easy to use with a top-quality camera, it’s lighter and easier to carry than you’d expect from its size. Its IP68 water-resistance rating and Ceramic Shield glass keep your phone protected so you can admire your photos on its Super Retina XDR OLED screen.

iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 14 Pro offers pro-performance and additional features but in a more compact package than the Pro Max. It comes with a newer chip (the A16 Bionic, as opposed to the iPhone 14’s A15), a higher refresh rate and brightness, the Always On display which preserves battery life, and more storage space. While the iPhone 14 and Plus still have the notches you may have gotten used to, both Pro models come with Dynamic Island for alerts and notifications.

iPhone 14 Pro Max

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is the biggest. Although it has the same camera system as the iPhone 14 Pro, it has a big, glorious 6.7-inch OLED screen to view it on. Boasting up to 1TB of storage, it should come as no surprise that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the most expensive of the four phones to buy new.

If you buy refurbished, however, you can score some really surprising savings on each model of the iPhone 14.

Is the iPhone 14 Pro camera worth it? If the quality of your photography is important to you, the Pro and Pro Max do offer the best camera set-ups with the best low-light performances and the sharpest, most detailed pictures. None of the iPhone 14 range, however, will let you down in the camera stakes.

How much is an iPhone 14? It depends on where you buy it. It’s important to buy from a refurbished retailer that offers value for money and plenty of choices.
