How Many Samsung Flip Phones Are There? - OzMobiles

At first glance, a flip phone looks just like any other smartphone. Until you fold it and find it fits right in your pocket – even your smallest pocket! Flip phones fold up to half their height, which helps to make them more compact and portable. But there are benefits to “clamshell”-style phones (as they’re known in the industry) other than their size and the fact they’re fun to flip open and closed. They’re also tough enough to handle most falls or accidents, are lightweight, are often long-lasting and tend to be less expensive. As the number one Android manufacturer globally, Samsung was the company to really put flip phones on the map as a mainstream (rather than niche) interest. So how many Samsung flip phones are there to choose from?

There are quite a few, and maybe the perfect new flip phone for you is among them. Variety is among the benefits that Samsung smartphones frequently offer, along with advanced software and hardware, high levels of security and exceptional cameras. A less obvious benefit that’s a little more specific to flip phones is that they can feel like they’re intruding less into your day-to-day life. Dillon Hesse from Samsung said closing your flip phone “sends a message to those around you that you're ready to fully engage in conversation”.

If you’d like a smartphone that enhances rather than interrupts your life so you can enjoy the present moment, a Samsung smartphone may be just what you’re looking for. Shop for used Samsung phones, and you can find the same quality phone for less. But how many Samsung flip phones are there?

What is the Samsung Galaxy Z Series?

The Z series is Samsung’s line of foldable smartphones. It began with the original Samsung Galaxy Fold, launched in late 2019. When the first Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was released mere months later, in March 2020, the Galaxy Fold was retroactively made part of the Z series. The Galaxy Z Flip featured the best of the past and the future: a throwback to the flip phones of the 2000s with modern innovations like ultra-thin glass technology.

It was a successful move. Samsung has sold more than 10 million foldable phones, which adds up to at least 88% of the market. The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G has been the company’s biggest-selling flip, with sales of over four million. Yet despite their success with the flip design, Samsung has kept the foldable option – which opens into a 7.3-inch tablet – in the picture. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G was released in September 2020, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G hit the scene in August 2021. So how many Samsung flip phones are there altogether?

As of early 2023, seven phones are in the Z series, including the original Galaxy Fold. If you’re looking at refurbished Samsung phones and want to get your hands on a flip model, which one should you pick?

How many Samsung flip phones are in our range, and which would suit you best? There are a lot, and here are some of the pros and cons of the main models we have available.

Galaxy Z Flip - $1,130

The original Samsung flip phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, comes with flexible glass, a high-quality camera and a battery designed to last all day. While reviewers loved its style, portability and flip mechanism, it was also considered expensive (all the more reason to buy refurbished) with a small outer display and an easily smudged exterior.

Galaxy Z Flip3 5G - $709 (save $970!)

With greater water resistance and a larger cover display than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G can hold its own with the best of the flagship phones with the bonus of being easy to fold in half. Reviewers loved the power, the water resistance and the inside screen, but some thought the battery life and camera left room for improvement.

Galaxy Z Flip4 5G - $1,199 (save $300)

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G has a lot going for it. It’s durable, with a slim body, large screen, a lot of processing power, a bigger battery and increased storage capacity. However, the camera isn’t a major upgrade from the last model, and the hinge has a gap.

Galaxy Z Fold3 5G - $1,019 (save $1480)

A phone with an in-built stylus pen so you can take notes on the go, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G comes with an impressive display and is also IPX8 waterproof. Reviewers liked a lot about it, but some still felt it was on the pricy side and would have liked to have seen an upgrade in the camera hardware.

Galaxy Z Fold2 5G - $1,159 or $1,259 (save $940 or $840)

Available in black and bronze, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G is a well-reviewed folding phone. Pros include a large size, a high refresh rate and an excellent design and build. It isn’t water-resistant, however, and many apps on it aren’t made for foldables.

How many Samsung flip phones are there currently on our website? Many, and you never know when more stock will arrive. Ultimately, it’s up to you which model flip phone you choose. However, the above examples should provide a useful starting point.

Benefits of Second Hand Samsung Flip Phones

There are some definite advantages to buying used Samsung phones online instead of heading to the closest retail store. Some of the main ones include:

It’s cheaper

This has to be the main drawcard of refurbished Samsung phones or any other kind of refurbished phone, really. Why pay full price when you can save up to 40% or hundreds of dollars on your purchase?

It’s better for the environment

Discarded smartphones are one of the leading causes of e-waste (electronic waste), the fastest-growing waste in the world. E-waste leads to hazardous chemicals seeping into the ecosystem, but buying second-hand smartphones supports recycling and saves perfectly good phones from ending up at the garbage dump.

You can still get a warranty

Savings are great, but how do you know you can trust a stranger you’re buying from over the Internet? What if something goes wrong, or you don’t quite get what you paid for? The solution is to purchase refurbished Samsung phones through OzMobiles.
